Welcome to Desire is Medicine. We are two very different women living a life led by desire, inviting you into our world.
Speaker 3:I'm Brenda. I'm a devoted practitioner to being my fully expressed true self in my daily life. Motherhood relationships and my business Desire has taken me on quite a ride and every day I practice listening to and following the voice within. I'm a middle school teacher turned coach and guide of the feminine.
Speaker 2:And I'm Catherine, devoted to living my life as the truest and hopefully the highest version of me. I don't have children, I've never been married. I've spent equal parts of my life in corporate as in some down and low shady spaces. I was the epitome of tired and wired and my path led me to explore desire. I'm a coach, guide, energy worker and a forever student, even after decades of inner work.
Speaker 3:We are humble beginners on the mat, still exploring, always curious. We believe that listening to and following the nudge of desire is a deep spiritual practice that helps us grow.
Speaker 2:On the Desire is Medicine podcast. We talk to each other, we interview people we know and love about the practice of desire, bringing in a very important piece that is often overlooked being responsible for our desire.
Speaker 3:Welcome to Desire is Medicine podcast. This is Brenda, and I'm here with my wonderful co-host, catherine Navarro. Hello Catherine, hello Brenda, so good to be here with you today. We have such a special treat for you all. Today we are bringing you a new episode in our series called the toolbox edition. Toolbox editions are mini episodes with tools and practices to help you play with desire. Today is really special.
Speaker 3:The inspiration came from one of our events which we host on the second Thursday of every month. Catherine led us in a meditation. It was absolutely beautiful and we knew we had to record this as an episode for you, because the world missed out if you weren't at that event. So the bottom line when we're talking about desire is having us be closer to our own truth, our own desire, be who we truly are in this world, and we want you to practice knowing your desires.
Speaker 3:And also there is a time where you need to take action on your desires and back yourself. And sometimes it's hard to picture yourself having your desire, or maybe you're unsure how you're going to have it or what is it actually going to look like. I mean, if you knew that, then maybe you'd already have it and the idea is growing into the person who can have it. So today, catherine is going to lead us in a meditation, and I'm really excited about this. So I want you to just sit back and relax and Catherine is going to take us through, for the rest of this episode will be the meditation and I'm going to turn it over to you, catherine, thank you.
Speaker 1:Thank you, Brenda. You know, an interesting thing about desire is it's like we want to get closer and closer to what we really want, Separating what's uniquely ours from what's socially acceptable or what's been socially indoctrinated. I know that we all want approval and acceptance from our peers. We want to feel loved and like what we long and that sort of influences what we want, and so we have these practices in our toolbox. Additions We've done desire pulls, desire lists. You can do inventory. We did an episode on withholds. There are other things that are more socially acceptable, like vision boards, journaling. Oh, we did an episode also on energy accounting. All these things are sort of excavating. What is it? What's in us right? And the other day we were leading an event and someone said well, with desire, sometimes she doesn't feel motivated to go for it or maybe she doesn't feel deserving. And what's interesting is that it doesn't matter if you deserve it or not. You wanting it is enough to go for it. It doesn't matter if you deserve it or not. You wanting it is enough to go for it. It doesn't matter if you're motivated or not. You taking action means you're just going for it. That's really what we're looking for today. So technically, if you've listened to other episodes, you could potentially pause this and write a desire list. If you're like Catherine, I know what I want. Then I want you to just have that in your mind's eye. And here we go, Taking a deep breath in for five, four, three, two, one and exhaling out for five, four, three, two, one, dropping deeper and deeper with every inhale and every exhale in your body, with every inhale and every exhale in your body, feeling the ground underneath your feet, feeling the seat underneath your bum, feeling the ground underneath you, feeling your full presence in this moment, really wanting and desiring this thing, this next evolution of you.
Speaker 1:As this desire begins to show itself, I now ask you, what will be the evidence of you having? How will you know you have your desire? How will you know you have the thing you having? How will you know you have your desire? How will you know you have the thing you want? You may say, I'll know because I have it, and I would argue that's not true. Sometimes we lack the awareness to see the thing that's right in front of us. So I ask you to look and feel. Can you feel yourself having it? And if so, what is different in your feeling in this moment as it would be in comparison to how you will feel once you have it. What are you seeing with your eyes now that you have it? What will you be hearing with your ears now that you have it? What will you be experiencing in your life to let you know that you have it? What else is evident to you here, as you are being the person that gets to experience this?
Speaker 1:To experience this, Continue to scan your imagination for evidence, perceived evidence. Continue to scan your mind for what it's going to really feel like, what you're going to be seeing, hearing, experiencing. Continue to do this. As the details become shorter and shorter, you will begin to feel and see and hear yourself having it. I want you to take a deep breath in and exhale out. Take a deep breath in and exhale out Wherever you are in. Today's practice is perfect. Let yourself know that you wanting something makes you worthy of having something. Thank you so much for tuning in today. That's it until next time. That's it until next time.
Speaker 3:Thank you for joining us on the Desire is Medicine podcast.
Speaker 2:Desire invites us to be honest, loving and deeply intimate with ourselves and others. You can find our handles in the show notes.
Speaker 3:We'd love to hear from you.
