Speaker 1:

Welcome to Desire is Medicine. We are two very different women living a life led by desire, inviting you into our world.

Speaker 2:

I'm Brenda. I'm a devoted practitioner to being my fully expressed true self in my daily life. Motherhood relationships and my business Desire has taken me on quite a ride and every day I practice listening to and following the voice within. I'm a middle school teacher turned coach and guide of the feminine.

Speaker 1:

And I'm Catherine, devoted to living my life as the truest and hopefully the highest version of me. I don't have children, I've never been married. I've spent equal parts of my life in corporate as in some down and low shady spaces. I was the epitome of tired and wired and my path led me to explore desire. I'm a coach, guide, energy worker and a forever student, even after decades of inner work.

Speaker 2:

We are humble beginners on the mat, still exploring, always curious. We believe that listening to and following the nudge of desire is a deep spiritual practice that helps us grow.

Speaker 1:

On the Desire as Medicine podcast. We talk to each other, we interview people we know and love about the practice of desire, bringing in a very important piece that is often overlooked being responsible for our desire, piece.

Speaker 2:

That is often overlooked being responsible for our desire. Welcome back listeners to the Desire as Medicine podcast. This is Brenda, your co-host, and today we have a very exciting episode I am so happy to share that we are doing another toolbox episode. Toolboxes are mini episodes that help you play with desire. I love these. The one that we're going to bring you today I'm really excited about because it's going to help you fully receive and fully have your desire. Catherine is going to be taking you through one of her beautiful magical meditations.

Speaker 2:

And what do I want to say about fully having our desires? One of the obstacles to having our desire is our ability, or our inability to see it when it comes to recognize it, to fully have it. I remember when I met my partner, I had declared it was the beginning of the pandemic and I was ready for partnership. And I declared out loud that I was ready for partnership, that I wanted to meet a man, and he said can I sit down and talk to you? And there was a moment where I realized, oh, my goodness, this is my desire coming to me, and I had a whole other plan of what I was going to do that afternoon. But I asked myself am I available for my desire, and so I said, yes, sit down. And the rest is history. And sometimes we sabotage our desires, we might push it away, we might create problems.

Speaker 2:

Having our desires. It's something that we want, but it can also be uncomfortable. Maybe you're used to longing I love to long for my desires and there was a moment where I realized, yes, I love longing for my desires, but I also want to have them. And even though we want our desires, there may be parts of us that believe that we can't have it or that we don't deserve it.

Speaker 2:

Whatever resonates for you, I think we can all agree that we want our desires probably why you're listening to the Desire is Medicine podcast to tap into what is it that you want, what do you want to create in your life? And today we're going to focus on how can you fully have it, how can you fully receive your desire in your life? Catherine is going to be leading you through a meditation and I want to also invite you, if you're into this idea that we're talking about, to go back to one of our early episodes, episode five. We talk about the desire cycle and going. We talk about all the different parts of that you would go through in order to have and create and be grateful for your desires. So check that out when you're done with this, and I am very excited to turn it over to Catherine, who is going to take you through her meditation now.

Speaker 1:

Hi, catherine, hey Brenda, hey everyone. How's everybody feeling today? Okay, okay, let's take a deep breath in. Hmm, let's take a deep breath in Just really feeling your body, feeling your chest soften with your breath, feeling your belly soften.

Speaker 1:

Taking another deep breath, in Sensing the space and relaxation that that breath creates inside of your body and, for a minute, just feeling yourself, really feeling yourself relaxing, whether you're sitting down, feeling your back up against the chair or the couch, potentially you're laying down, feeling the floor underneath your back If you're standing, feeling the ground underneath your feet, if you're standing, feeling the ground underneath your feet, just really feeling your human grounded and relaxed in this moment. And I want to invite you to think about something that you really want. Maybe it's a particular piece of art that you would like to create. Maybe it's a particular relationship you would like to experience. Maybe it's a medal you would like to win. Maybe it's a medal you would like to win. Maybe it's a Hollywood star that you would like to receive. Maybe it's a winning lottery ticket. Feel in your body what gets activated. Maybe you have tingles in your heart space as you think of that thing you want. Maybe it's butterflies in your stomach. Maybe you feel your chest getting tight and shallow. I want to invite you, no matter where you are standing, sitting, laying down, just shake it off to a little shake, just get it out.

Speaker 1:

Those are just all those human fears being felt in the body, your nervous system getting activated, saying can we have that Brenda mentioned earlier? Maybe the blocks show up as, ooh, I don't really deserve this. Can I really have it? Oh no, I can't have all of this. Maybe other people deserve it more than me. Other people potentially have worked harder. I don't know how to fully receive this. Or, as Brenda said, I had something else planned for this afternoon. As Brenda said, I had something else planned for this afternoon.

Speaker 1:

No matter what's showing up, it's perfect. Just gives you information as to either what the block is in front of you or what the filter looks like that you're seeing the world through. Take a deep breath as you exhale out. Just let yourself know that you're ready to let that go, just for this exercise. Don't give yourself the pressure of letting it go forever, just in this moment, ready to put it to the side With your next breath. I would love for you to feel into what you have. Is it the ground underneath you? Can you feel how sturdy it's holding you? Potentially it's the sun on your skin. Can you feel it fully warming up every cell in your body? Maybe it's a gorgeous breeze on your skin. Maybe it's birds chirping, maybe it's silence. Can you just be with this moment and its beauty and receive everything that this moment has to offer you Potentially?

Speaker 1:

it's the safety of the chair, the safety of your heartbeat, the fullness of your breath. Can you thank your heart for beating on its own? Can you thank your lungs for knowing exactly how to do what they do? Can you thank the universe for its absolutely gorgeous setup?

Speaker 1:

I would love for you to find something to look at in your space that is yours, that you can fully receive and by receiving I mean potentially it is a cup, and by receiving I mean potentially it is a cup. Can you look at the cup, or whatever you're looking at? Be grateful for having it. Think about all the ways in which it's adding to this very moment and has added to your life. Be grateful for all the times that has been useful and all the times that it's been honestly not needed. Take a deep breath in thanking yourself for playing, for feeling into all that is yours, that you are being with in this moment, reminding yourself that you know how to be in right relationship with what is yours, in right relationship with what is yours.

Speaker 1:

I would love to encourage you at this time to be in the right relationship with what is coming. May you be forever able to bask in the gratitude and the reception that you have, for everything that you have and what is coming For, potentially, when it arrives, it is going to be even better than you could have ever imagined. Wishing you all of this and more, until next time. Thank you for joining us on the desire is medicine podcast. Desire invites us to be honest, loving and deeply intimate with ourselves and others.
