Desire As Medicine Podcast
126 ~ From Desire To Dollars: Karen Baines On Time, Boundaries, and Conscious Wealth
Ever wonder why money won’t land no matter how hard you hustle? We sat down with conscious wealth mentor Karen Baines to flip the script: alignment isn’t about efforting; it’s about how your daily choices broadcast your value to the universe. Karen maps out her Wheel of Alignment—money, time, and you—and makes a surprising case that money is usually the least misaligned area. The friction starts upstream with how you spend time and how you hold boundaries, and the fix is refreshingly practical.
We dig into the difference between soul desires that linger and ego wants that chase image, then get tactical about turning resonance into results. Karen explains why the universe reads the frequency of your doing, not your thoughts, and how feelings act as a GPS for aligned action. You’ll learn to spot the dysfunctional quartet—obligation, sacrifice, resentment, guilt—and consciously shift toward freedom, support, and creative power. She breaks down the stretch zone, breadcrumb tracking, and the three-to-five-month window for grounding a new normal so your life and business start reflecting your deepest priorities.
If you’re a heart-led entrepreneur or a curious creator, you’ll leave with a simple plan: protect your time, honor your body, set clean boundaries, and make one freedom-forward choice this week. Money follows value, and value is something you demonstrate, not affirm.
Grab Karen’s free Wheel of Alignment scorecard, identify your biggest leverage point, and start rewiring your days for abundance.

Welcome to Desire is Medicine. We are two very different women living a life led by desire, inviting you into our world.
SPEAKER_01:I'm Brenda. I'm a devoted practitioner to being my fully expressed true self in my daily life, motherhood, relationships, and my business. Desire has taken me on quite a ride, and every day I practice listening to and following the voice within. I'm a middle school teacher, turned coach and guide of the feminine.
SPEAKER_02:And I'm Catherine, devoted to living my life as the truest and hopefully the highest version of me. I don't have children, I've never been married, I spent equal parts of my life in corporate as in some down and low shady spaces. I was the epitome of Tired and Wired, and my path led me to explore desire. I'm a coach, guide, energy worker, and a forever student.
SPEAKER_01:Even after decades of inner work, we are humble beginners, on the mat, still exploring, always curious. We believe that listening to and following the nudge of desire is a deep spiritual practice that helps us grow.
SPEAKER_02:On the Desire as Medicine podcast, we talk to each other, we interview people we know and love about the practice of desire, bringing in a very important piece that is often overlooked: being responsible for our desire. Welcome back, family, friends, loved ones, to another episode of the Desire as Medicine podcast. I am so excited. As always, I have the lovely Brenda here, and I have a gorgeous guest here today that I can't wait to introduce. Her name is Karen Baines. She is a Conscious Wealth mentor and founder of the Conscious Wealth Code. For over a decade, Karen has worked with passionate, ambitious entrepreneurs by showing them how to master their own creational process, particularly around their business and finances. A priceless clarity is available in your whole life, she says, allowing for breakthroughs and alignment with the work that you are truly meant to be doing in this world. One of the main areas that Karen works is with alignment. Alignment allows you to see what you need to do differently, what to change, and how to change it. And friends, I want to say this is great for our podcast to have her on, ours being Brenda and my own here, because we talk about our relationships to desire. And what Karen's work talks about is our relationship to money, time, and self. And how that how they mirror one another. And it's really all rooted in boundaries, self-worth, energy flow. And I'm not really fond of the word self-worth. Predominantly because what is it and how do we weigh it? Like, where is the scale? How do you weigh that? How do you say to yourself, I feel super worthy? I feel worthless. Like, no matter how you look at it, how that word, like it sucks. And today we're gonna talk about it from a different perspective. We're gonna kind of give you like the one plus one equals two version. Uh, Karen will be talking about the wheel of alignment. She's gonna be giving you great information. But let me share a little bit about what I know about Karen. So Karen and I know each other from the early 2000s, where they were single digits. I want to say like 2008. Maybe even earlier. I don't think earlier than 2006. I want to say 2008 is the is the time. And since we're now in 2025, you can easily deduce that it was a long time ago. Karen and I did some really potent work together back then in the woo-woo area in terms before we started to do some more grounded work. So she was my money coach for a while. I've been on a journey for those that don't know to really understand how money works and why some of us have some, why some of us don't, and what the real grounded essence is of that. And I want to say it has been somewhat of an esoteric journey for me. Not everything has been a Wikipedia page, some of it has required a lot of sensing and feeling. And Karen has been an absolutely gorgeous mentor in that arena for me. I think we have done some gorgeous work together. And with that, I want to share the beautiful Karen. Welcome to the Desires Medicine podcast.
SPEAKER_00:Oh my god, I don't know how to follow that. Thank you. Thank you so much for inviting me. It's lovely to meet you, Brenda, and it's wonderful to spend time with you, Catherine. We don't see enough of each other these days. So it's really lovely. Really lovely to see you. Thank you for having me.
SPEAKER_02:You're welcome. Um, and friends, I want to say that Brenda was such a good sport about having Karen on. I'm like, I want to bring her on. What do you think? So I'm gonna toss it to Brenda and say, hey Brenda, how do you how's it going?
SPEAKER_01:Hey, I'm so excited to meet you, Karen. It's so wonderful. I've heard Catherine speak so highly of you and your work together over the years. And who doesn't want more money? I think we all want more money. We all want our desires, we want all want more time, we all want more money. And so I'm really excited to have you on today to talk about that. So welcome.
SPEAKER_00:Thank you. Thank you. I'm excited to talk about it. I'm excited to talk about it so much so I just don't even know where to start. So I can't wait for a question that's gonna spend way mean. We have so many.
SPEAKER_02:Mine is coming. So so I would like to start with. I think if I were to talk to a client right now or a novice, right, in the area of money, time, self, alignment. I think one of the first questions that somebody would ask me is, what does that even mean? What is alignment? Because it's a really pretty word, and we understand two things can align and all of a sudden they're aligned, right? But how does that look tangibly for someone when what the other thing that comes up for me is I think that most people when they talk about alignment, they talk about flow. Oh, things are just aligned, they're just flowing, they're just effortless. And let's be honest, 50% of life is gonna suck, and it's not gonna be effortless, there's gonna be a lot of effort there. So, what is alignment truly?
SPEAKER_00:Can you give us an intro here? Yeah, I can give you my perspective of alignment and what I see as the truth of alignment. So when I'm working with clients, my definition of alignment is that you do you, you do you 100% of the time, 100% unapologetically, 100% from a place of love, and that place of love is usually gonna start at a place of self-love. So that is alignment. Um, and everything that you desire, everything that you desire, everything you want, whether that's money, great relationships, great health. I mean, I I'm known for saying that money is a happy byproduct of alignment, but you can take the word money out of that phrase and drop in anything you like. Great relationships, a great relationship with my partner is a happy byproduct of alignment, and that's your alignment, the individual. Okay. Um loads of money in the bank is a happy byproduct of alignment. Yellow Ferrari on the driveway, a happy byproduct of alignment, and the great thing about it is because we are designed to create everything that you desire is absolutely available to you, or you wouldn't want it in the first place. So wanting something, desiring something, whatever that something is, and and there's gonna be multiple things. Like we don't go through our lives generally wanting one thing. You know, we have many, many desires, um, and our desires motivate us, you know, and that's important. Our desires motivate us for more, and we're always gonna want more. And we're designed to want more. And the reason why that happens is because everything you desire, not only is it absolutely available to you, but is a direct communication from your soul in terms of what it wants to experience through you when you get that desire. Which is why we come back to everything you desire is absolutely available for you, otherwise you wouldn't want it. Because actually, you think it's you that wants it, but it's not, it's your soul, and your your desire for something is your is the truth it's like the translation, it's the translation of a frequency that is being communicated to you from your soul, and you translate that, the human translates that as a want or a desire, or the opposite of that, you don't want that anymore, or it's not something you want.
SPEAKER_02:So, how would you answer? How do I know if it's my soul that wants it or it's my ego that wants it?
SPEAKER_00:Usually your soul, what your soul wants will be something that is there. I mean, there's so many ways, but one of the ways is that it's something that you're gonna have wanted for a long time. So if you haven't achieved something and it hangs out in your orbit for months and months and years and years, that is a soul desire, and it will not let you go because your soul will not let you go. You'll all you'll often find that um when it's something that your soul wants for you, it's it's gonna make your life better. There's gonna be something like when you achieve it, when you get what you want, it's gonna be something that that is fulfilling for you. Your soul wants to experience fulfillment, it wants you to be fulfilled, it wants you to reach the highest possible version of you on this planet that it can in this lifetime. It wants you to reach the reach the kind of uh levels of abundance that are available to you, because that's what the universe wants. It wants it for like it wants it for all of us. Our egos tend to be louder, and our egos are the like the ego gets a bad rap, to be fair, certainly from the perspective that I talk about. Um when I'm talking about ego, I'm talking about the part of you that will have you believe that you are that you can't have something. You might want it, but you can't have it for whatever reason. And it will have you bel it will it will feed you with the self-doubt. It will do all those things, but it will only be doing those things because its job is to keep you safe. So when you strive for more, you're walking uncharted territory and back to your ego, you're gonna die. It's not safe. Whatever it is you want, if it's something you've never had before, something you've never achieved before, it can't possibly be safe. And so you're gonna get that egoic pushback, that egoic resistance that happens. But the great thing about it is when you really understand the dynamics of that and what's really happening, you'll find that you can navigate the resistance that comes from the ego in a very grounded practical way, despite the inner self-talk that it might you might be hearing, you can navigate that. And in about six weeks, as long as you stay true and do you 100% of the time from a place of self-love, your ego will get on board with you. It has to, because its job is to protect you, its job is to keep you safe, and it can't do that if you've moved out of its frequency, it has to match your frequency, your new frequency. Unfortunately, lots of people get really caught up in a in a vibration, in a frequency that they never they're never able to break free from because the ego can do such a great job of keeping people stuck and keeping people safe from a place of fear, lack, anxiety, all those things play out.
SPEAKER_02:So I love how you describe the ego from the angle of how it meets your soul's desire. So your soul has a desire, and then the ego is like, wait, no, there's self-doubt, no, there's fear, there's but how would somebody know that it's an ego desire from the front end? Like, instead of you, and you also mentioned that a soul desire would be something that's sort of hanging on the sidelines, always whispering, like, hey, what about me? Hey, what about me? What about this? What about this? What would an ego desire look like? Um, I'm thinking of for me, an ego desire is usually identity-based, like the way I want to see myself or I want to achieve something that's blingy, like um, I don't know. I'm falling short on what an ego desire would be right now. I'm gonna toss this to Brenda.
SPEAKER_01:Do you know what I'm pointing to? When I think about ego desires, it's such a great question, Catherine. It's like, I want more. I want a bigger house, I want a bigger boat, I want, I want so much money in the bank. And it's not that those desires can't be true, but sometimes they are ego desires when they're very externally oriented as opposed to something internally oriented. Because we do have those callings on our soul. I don't personally have a desire for a bigger house and a bigger car and fancy, fancy, fancy. Some people might authentically, but I think there's a lot of keeping up with the Joneses. I think that's what I think about with an ego desire.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, but what if that desire for that you're what if that desire that you're talking about the blingy, like in the year we call it blingy, you know, the bling, the jewelry, the car, the house, the da da da da. What if that desire isn't ego? What if that desire is your soul communicating with you that you can have that, that you can have that and you can achieve that, and the journey that you will go on to get there will be the experience that your soul wants to have. And it doesn't have to be. I think from the way you framed it, it's almost like there's a judgment there that somehow that stuff is wrong or bad, or there's greed or selfishness involved. Not at all. We see like we see that in the world, we see people with that, and we might frame them as bad people or people that have got big egos or whatever. Um a that's a judgment that belongs to us, we're seeing that through our own filters. We don't necessarily know that person, we are making a judgment based on our own filters. That person could be behind the scenes, could be really loving, really giving. Like we just don't know. Um, having said that, we're governed by the law of polarity, so we're governed by universal law, one of those laws being the law of polarity, which is everything has its opposite. Where there's abundance, there's lack, where there's light, there's dark. And there are people in the world, you know, we're talking about devils and angels. You know, there are people in the world that are driven and motivated by power and being able to have more power than somebody else, and that can look like that can look like a lot of money, it can look like a lot of bling, and they do undesirable things in the world with that, and that's true, but when I'm talking about ego, most of the people that are in my orbit, I know that they're not wired that way. I'm not a vibrational match for those kinds of people. The people that find me, the people that I that that come into my world are usually well, always, I can't think of the last time anybody ever landed in my orbit that that was not a really heart-centered loving person, usually designed for some sort of service to others. Okay, and if that person desires riches of any kind, I know that that is a soul calling. Because when that person goes on that journey and fulfills that that desire, they will have gone through multiple frequencies where they're able to give back so much more than they can from where they are, where they don't have more. Having more is just your it is just your soul's way of motivating you to break through the frequencies you need to break through to do your own divine self-expression. Ultimately, that is what money is for. Money is creational energy. It when we've got money, we've got choices. The more money we have, the more choices we can make, the more things and experiences we can have, the richer our lives, our our human lives can become, the more we can give back. That's the law of circulation. Um and it and it if you think about it, when we've got money to spend, we spend it in a way that gives us the freedom to express who we really are, which means that money is a tool for us to be able to do our own divine self expression, which makes it incredibly sacred.
SPEAKER_02:I love how you talk about that, about money being incredibly sacred. I was reminded when she was speaking about her background, and this is. Something that Brenda and I have talked about, about how beautiful it must have been, and what a transition it was when you were decided, oh, I think I understand how money works and I want to go into the world of bookkeeping. Can you say more about that? Like what did that feel like for you?
SPEAKER_00:If only it had been um as black and white and obvious of that as that, um, it wasn't like that at all, unfortunately. Um, what actually happened was, I mean, honestly, the universe took control. My soul and the universe took control of that whole situation. I'd I left school um with zero qualifications. I barely attended school um after my third year of what you guys would call high school. So once I reached, I want to say 13, I hardly attended school at all. I hated school, had a terrible time at school, and I left school with no qualifications whatsoever. Um and I became a mum very early in my life. I was a my first ch my first son was born when I was 18. And then I quickly had three more. And at that point, money was very thin on the ground. I mean, it was it was hard. Like life was a struggle. Like life was a struggle. The finance the finances were not there at all. Um, and then my husband decided that he wanted to work for himself, and so he became in the UK, we call it, I don't know what if you call it that over here over there, but here we call it self-employed. So he started working for himself, and as a result of that, we needed to fill in a yearly tax return, and he didn't want anything to do with it. His philosophy, his whole life and still is now, I just sweep up and make the tea, you deal with everything else. So he would go out and earn the money, and then he'd just come home and give it all to me and say, You do what you need to do with it, and if there's anything left over, then I'll have I'll have some back. That's how it worked, it's how it always worked. Um, and somebody needed to do the accounts, and that somebody was me, because we literally could not hire somebody to do it. So I needed to learn to do it. And my mum actually introduced me to somebody that she'd recently met through her work as an interfaith minister that she was doing at the time. She introduced me to my dear friend Allison, who is still my friend now. Um, she she became my accountant then, she became my mentor, and she showed me how to keep how to keep the records that I needed to keep so that they could take over and fill in the actual tax return and submit it for me. And she created an Excel spreadsheet for me. And if you got nice guys know Excel spreadsheets and they've got all the formulas, and like you'll put something in there and something magical happens over there, and I was like, What is it doing? Why is it doing that? I used to get on calls with Alison, I'd be like, Well, yeah, I know, but why is it doing that? And she couldn't answer me because she would have been talking a language that I didn't understand. But in the end, she said to me, You know, you've got a real flair for bookkeeping, and your curiosity is something that I don't see very often. Have you ever considered becoming a bookkeeper? And nobody had ever said anything like that to me before, ever. And she said that she would support me through my training, um, that I could do it through her company. Um, and the literally the like the rest was history. I nailed my exams very quickly. Back then it was calculators and a pen and a pen and a ruler in a room for three and a half hours. There was no software, there was like um, and I and I I it was sec it was naturally second nature to me, even though I hated math in school. There was something about when it was framed through money that I could just understand. Um and then because I had like there was another part of my life that was very spiritual that I was working on myself. I was trying to fix some sort of well, fix myself. I was unhappy, I didn't know why, there was a void, and I was going on a very spiritual journey. Um, and in the end, what happened was the universe was trying to push both of those worlds together for me, and I was like, no, they're not coming together. But I get on calls with bookkeeping clients, and I knew just by looking at their bookwork, like their their accounts would light up for me like Christmas trees. I knew exactly why they weren't weren't making the money that they wanted to make, I knew exactly why. Um, and I was having those kinds of conversations, and honestly, I talk a lot to my clients about choices, and you know, we create through the process of choice and consequence and blah blah blah blah blah, and money represents choice and all of that, but I swear I had no choice in the end than to allow those two parts of me to collide so that I could go to the next level in my in my life. So unfortunately, it wasn't as black and white as you as you thought, and there was a lot of resistance from me, and there was a lot of like I didn't really understand what was going on a lot of the time. Um, it's only in hindsight and having been on the journey in the years after that that I I'm able to join all the DOPs.
SPEAKER_01:Thank you for that, Karen. I love that story, and I love how you were so deeply called to a gift that you had. You didn't even realize that you had that gift. I love how you said money was thin on the ground. I'm like, oh yeah, I I know it, I know what you mean. That sounds very familiar. I never heard it put in that way before. But you were just called to this gift and you had this life experience that kind of was so challenging. And then by following it, and we talk about that a lot on this podcast about intuition and following the call of desire when it doesn't make any sense. And sometimes we have more choices than others, and sometimes we're just at a bottom. And it sounds like you really followed the thread. And I love what you said. I saw this on your website. You said your intuition is the key to having and creating a magnificent life. And it does require trust, and it requires following the unknown, following the breadcrumbs when you don't really know when they're where they're going to lead. So that's really powerful that you felt intuitively how money worked. And look at you now.
SPEAKER_00:That's really cool. Thank you. Thank you. Well, it was a while. I mean, I went through various guises of of my of my work. I mean, I think I mentioned earlier like when I first started working with Catherine, it was very whoa. I was working in the Akashic Records, I was working in the database of the soul, I was clearing blocks and restrictions from um from soul records. But even then, I loved working with business owners the most. Like I was just drawing, I could work with anybody, I can still work with anybody because alignment is unique to the individual. And my work means that I can teach a client what alignment looks like for them and how to track their evidence and follow those breadcrumbs so that they, you know, they align with their abundance, and I can do that with anybody, but my favorite people are business owners because they are designed in a certain way. Um, their businesses are often what I call their vehicle the vehicles for their soul. That's where the motivation comes from. Um, money never lies. It money will never lie to you. It is a byproduct of alignment. It is about whether if you're in alignment, money will land. If you're out of alignment, money won't land.
SPEAKER_01:I love that. That's so powerful. Money never lies. You have your wheel of alignment, which I'm going to ask you about in a moment, which is so interesting and so powerful. And I was really surprised. You said, and I think this is really a jawdropper. Money is usually the least misaligned area.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, it's not it's never the problem.
SPEAKER_01:It's so interesting. And I think most people listening and most people out in the world wouldn't agree with that. They're like, what? I just need more money, and everything will fall into place. So I would love to just back up and have you talk about your wheel of alignment, what that means, what the areas are, so our listeners can enjoy that.
SPEAKER_00:Okay, so my wheel of alignment is a wheel. It's a wheel that is broken, like the diagram of it is is broken, it's like a pie. It's broken into thirds. Um, and those thirds cover the three commodities of alignment. So, and that actually represents my work. My my work that I do with my clients is the conscious wealth code, and the conscious wealth code is broken into the three commodities of alignment, and those three commodities of alignment are money, time, and you. But the thing about alignment is if money is a happy byproduct of alignment, then that means that money is the piece that lands when you're aligned. Which therefore means that if that if money isn't landing, if a but let's say abundance for now, let's say abundance. If you're if abundance isn't landing for you, like the tangible, I'm talking about the tangible physical evidence, the tangible physical evidence, physical evidence of abundance, if that's not landing for you and it's the last piece that drops in as evidence that you're aligned, then it means that the misalignment must be happening before that, right? And honestly, I I mean I find that for most of my clients, the misalignment is happening these days, is happening with time, with how they manage their time. So um time is uh probably your the most powerful commodity that you have absolute control over, even if you believe you don't have control over your time, you do. Okay, so if you can learn to understand how to value your time, because if you think about it, time is the same for everybody. Everybody on the planet gets 24 hours a day, brand new, every single day, gifted to them. You can't rewind it, you can't do it over, you can't repeat it, and it could all be gone tomorrow. That is the most powerful thing that we have that can actually affect our alignment. And then you've got the other commodity, which is your like the the what I call this the boundary work, it's the work of you. Now, the thing about the the boundary work, the work of you, the commodity of you, is that is always gonna be a work in progress. That work never stops because every time you go for a vibrational shift, if things have been, say things have been feeling and looking pretty good for two or three months, your soul is gonna get quite bored and restless and wants the next thing. It wants the next experience. And at the next level, the boundaries and the and like the like the self-value stuff that is happening within the commodity of you that was working at your old frequency isn't gonna work at your next frequency. So it's an ongoing, it's an ongoing journey. Like the the with time, you can you've got absolute control. My clients don't believe me, and it takes a little while for them to get it, but I've got a framework that I teach them and we navigate the ego and we do all of that stuff, and they start to collect their evidence, and then they start to see that actually they do have control over their time. And the more that they actually take control of that time in an energetically aligned way so that they're broadcasting that they value their time, which is you know, this infinite gift from the universe, as long as they're broadcasting that through their actions, everything else starts to starts to change and fall into place. The boundary work that can be more challenging. Um, it's the boundary work is about the relationship with others and the relationship with yourself. So, whereas you've got absolute control over the choices you make around your time, even if you don't believe that, when it comes to the work of you, the greatest advantage that we have as human beings is other human beings, is relationships. But that means that we're not always in control, you know, because there are other people around that affect our choices, that we allow to affect our choices. People manage, look to manage their relationships, people have different agendas, people are co-creating outside of themselves, their soul and the universe. The next layer is co-creation with you know within intimate relationships and family relationships, and then you've got the extended version of that, which is like friends and whatever. So there are layers, and it's more challenging to deal with the commodity of you. You can get a really big bang for your buck with your money when you understand that, and you can you can start making choices that are aligned for you within your relationships and see and understand the bigger picture, but that's gonna be a work in progress. That's never ever gonna stop. Your relationships are gonna come become less challenging as you go through the the different the different levels of frequency, but the money piece that's the piece that happens right at the end of a you mentioned a thread earlier. Like if you think of the human life, if you think of all the choices you make every single day, all the different choices you make, and I'm not talking about decisions that happen in your head, I'm talking about choices that actually happen in a grounded practical way, that you have to move your physical body in order to make an actual choice that creates a frequency that the universe can react to. If you think of all those choices that a human being makes every day as threads, as you mentioned earlier, you can imagine that things can turn into a bird's nest pretty quickly, right? So the journey of alignment is understanding how to navigate all of that through understanding the soul communication that happens when you desire something, or when you have a great idea, or when you decide that what was working for you once isn't working for you anymore, and you course correct on that basis. The money happens as a byproduct of you and your value. Like, what was it you said, Catherine, at the start? You said you're not a fan of what phrase was it? Self-worth.
SPEAKER_02:I'm not a fan of self-worth, I'm not a fan of um, I deserve it or you deserve it.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_02:Because it assumes that someone is not worthy or it assumes that someone doesn't deserve it. And I'm like, does that even exist?
SPEAKER_00:Exactly. Well, well, no, it doesn't. It's completely subjective. It's completely subjective, but how you value yourself within every single choice that you make, whether that's with your time, or whether it's how you're broadcasting your value within a choice you make in a relationship based on what your soul wants for you, that is how you broadcast value. And the thing about value is like the the connection between value and money is that money represents value. Human beings spend their money on that which they value, they spend their money on things that are gonna bring value to their lives. So if we're over here vibrating, I am not of value, and money's over here vibrating value, you're not gonna be a vibrational match for money. The alignment piece makes sure that you're always broadcasting I am of value. And that's not based on other people's perceptions and filters of what value looks like, it's based on you and yourself on where you position yourself and your choices every single day.
SPEAKER_02:Yes, I think it I like the way the word that you used broadcast. So I think that if I were to rephrase it for a client, if somebody said, Oh, you know, I just because this is kind of how I hear it, oh, I just I deserve it. Example. Like I'm gonna buy this thing for myself because I deserve it. Example. And it's outside of my means, but I deserve it. So I'm gonna go into debt or something else because I deserve it. You know, I'm always like, what you deserve or don't deserve doesn't matter, right? There's a like a there's a balance sheet, and you're either in the plus or in the negative. You either have the money or don't have the money. And we could argue that in so many different ways. I could argue, well, if you loved yourself, you wouldn't overspend because you're to a certain extent putting yourself in potentially harm's way, or you know, if you do that enough and you're in the negative enough, well, now it's affecting other things. Maybe you don't have a place to live or money to eat or you know, something like this. So I like the broadcast piece. I I do think that if I'm trying to not make this an esoteric conversation, so I'm trying to ground this. If I have actions and people are witnessing my actions, people can see if I broadcast I deserve it or I feel worthy of something. It's almost like people can we can see it in one another. It's less of if I think I deserve something or I don't think I deserve something, it's more of my actions speak something. My actions are telling a story in the way that I move through the world. I'm gonna sort of go back to when you talked about time, because I think that time is a much easier way to describe this describe self-worth or describe deserving. So I could say I deserve the life of my dreams all day and all night. But if I only if I'm working a 20-hour day and I'm only giving myself four hours to sleep, evidence is showing that I don't really value my rest because statistics show that X amount of sleepless nights a week, and I'm not talking about insomnia. Okay, listeners, don't come for me. No need to cancel me. We're talking about insomnia or if you have a reason why you're not sleeping. We're not talking about you, we're talking about the people that are working to the bone, and maybe it's because you're obsessed and you feel like you're in your passion work or not, but there has to be a place where we're taking good care of ourselves, right? And so I could say I deserve blah blah blah blah blah, but if I am behaving in a way that doesn't honor my rest, my rest cycle, then somewhere there's a disconnect, somewhere there is a misalignment.
SPEAKER_00:What you're talking about is congruency. So when I talk about broadcasting, I use the word a lot, but what I'm what I'm actually talking about when I'm talking about broadcasting is the frequency that you're broadcasting, not to other people, but to the universe. So when you do something, like we're all human, we our souls chose. This is this is my philosophy, so you know, take it or leave it, but this is the way I explain this. Um, our souls are the infinite part of us, they are the piece of the universe that was sent out so that the universe could experience itself. Because if you're the universe and you are everything and you are infinite, you can't experience anything because you are everything and infinite, right? So small pieces break off, and that's the soul, and it's the infinite part of the universe, and you are in what I call a co-creation for your whole human life with your soul and the universe. Okay, now frequency, vibration, and I use them, I interchange them, they're the essentially, I believe, that like they're the same thing. Frequency, vibration, uh that's the language of the universe. Okay, so your soul communicates to you through frequency, and the universe reads the frequency that you the human do because your soul chose to be human. So the third dimension where we live, the grounded practical place where we live, is super important to our existence. Okay, it's why thoughts don't become things, you know, and I know that's controversial. I know that like people believe that thoughts become things, but it is not true. You can't think something into form. Now, I'm not saying that there are mystics out there that can't do that, I'm sure there are. I believe in magic, I believe that they're probably, but not my clients, not my family, not the people that are a vibrational match for me and what I do in the world, and blah blah blah. We live human lives, and as you said, some of it sucks, some of it's great, and we make memories, and hopefully we get to the end of it with not many regrets. You know, that's the plan. And the way we create is the frequency that happens when we make a choice, and the choice is the doing. So when you do a doing, the doing has a frequency, the universe reads the frequency of the doing, and it says yes, and it brings you a consequence that drops in that matches the original frequency of the choice because we're governed by universal law. Many of you will recognize that particular law as the law of attraction. Like attracts like the universe's job is to say yes to everything that we want, it assumes we want everything that we do because that is our superpower. Our superpower is to create. Human beings were given free will. Why would we be doing something that we didn't want to do? And that circles us right back around to your example of how if you're working 20 hours a week and only getting four hours sleep, you're not taking care of yourself, and that's exactly right. You have a responsibility. So, money going back to the money part of this, money vibrates at a frequency in and of itself. That vibration is responsibility and power. Now, the responsibility part is the part that the universe recognizes as responsibility, not what a human recognises as responsibility, because that is subjective. It's what the universe sees as responsibility. The responsibility a human being has at a very base level, as far as the universe is concerned, is to take care of the physical body that it that the soul inhabits so that it can live a life optimally and create a life of abundance. That is what we get to do by taking care of our physical bodies. In order to take care of our physical bodies, we need food, light, shelter, heat, water, sleep. If we are not taking care of our physical body, we are not in alignment because we are devaluing our physical body, and we are broadcasting that we are not valuing ourselves enough to get enough sleep. So that's that's when we become and then we become not a vibrational match for m for money, and then we burn ourselves out and get sick. Because while all that's happening and we're making all these misaligned choices, and the universe is saying yes to all of that obligation, those 20 hours a week that you're working that in a job that you hate is vibrating obligation. The 20 hours that you spend, and notice the language we spend our money, we spend our time. It's the same language. When we spend time doing something, if we're doing something that we feel like we've we have to do, we've got to do, we should do, we must do, all of that represents obligation. We are spending 20 hours a week vibrating obligation. Universe is reading frequency of obligation and saying, Hell yeah, here you are, I have some more obligation. And before you know it, you've got all these have-to's, got-to-s, should do's, and must-do's showing up in your world that you continue to do. So then you're adding to the obligation that you're already doing. And then what happens? You lose your freedom. When you do obligation, you lose your freedom. It can be no other way. Now, money is really close friends vibrationally with freedom. Makes sense, right? Entrepreneurs like my people, people that like my tribe, they're in love with the idea of financial freedom. Because when you've got freedom, when you've got money, you can make more choices. You can choose to do exactly what you want to do. Like them, like if you you can hire help so that you can spend your time as you wish. Honestly, you've got, I call them the like the the dysfunctional family, like the not so fab for. You've got the like obligation, sacrifice, resentment, and guilt. They vibrate over here, the opposite of money. And then you've got over here, you've got money, and you've got freedom, and you've got support, and you've got power. And I don't mean power in a going back to what we were talking about earlier when I was talking like that masculine power energy. I'm not talking about that. I'm when I said that money, money vibrates at a frequency of responsibility and power at the start of what I've I'm talking about here. The power part is the power that you have as a human being to create your life. That is our power. So that all circles right back to the divine self-expression. When you've got money, you get to be able to spend it on what you want so that you can divinely self-express. So filling your time with activities that vibrate at a frequency of obligation, sacrifice, resentment, guilt, anger, frustration, fear, all of those, let's call them negative on the negative end of a vibrational spectrum. They don't vibrate money. Your job as a human and your work with alignment is to focus on creating more ways that you can do freedom in your life so that you're vibrating freedom, joy, love, expansion, all the juicy stuff. And then when you're spending your time doing those frequencies, you're just naturally broadcasting. You don't have to do anything about the broadcast. The broadcast happens naturally. So as long as you manage your time in what I call the energetically aligned way, so that you understand what the different activities you spend time during the day, where they go in that um on the scale of frequency, then you can make sure that you're always vibrating money naturally. That happens naturally, and that's when flow happens. Does that make sense? It's like if you're using your time in an energetically aligned way, and what that looks like is understanding the frequencies that you're vibrating at with all the different activities, all the different choices that you're making, right? You will always be vibrating abundance, you will always be vibrating money. You don't have to do anything about it, it will just come as a result of the frequency that you're vibrating at, and that's what you're broadcasting. How do you know what the frequency is? Because of how you feel. You, the human, your feelings are your navigation system. They're like your feelings are your GPS. So when your soul broadcasts to you through frequency and your human, the human part of you translates that into how you feel about something, that energy that you're feeling will have a name. I feel happy about this, I feel joyful, I feel expansive, I feel free, I feel miserable, I feel sad, I feel lonely. I'm all of those words that describe how we feel, those are the frequencies that you're vibrating at when you're feeling those feelings. So that's how you know what frequency you're vibrating at. And that's also your navigation system because if you're feeling something that feels like if it sucks, it's your soul letting you know that you're not supposed to be doing it if it sucks. Go and do something over there instead. That's alignment.
SPEAKER_02:What about growth? And when we're in a growth spurt, we're doing something that is uncomfortable. You had talked about that earlier when you said, like, you know, the ego is going to have some sort of pushback because it wants to feel safe. And then after kind of six weeks, the ego gets on board and you're at a different frequency.
SPEAKER_00:That's what I call the stretch zone. My old friend, the stretch zone. Again, this is all around time. Okay. Um, the commodity of time. So when you're working, when you're working with time in an energetically aligned way, and you understand how to how to plan your activities, if you like, over the course of your week and your month, you spend a certain amount of time in different frequencies that make sure that you're always vibrating abundance. That's that's what I teach. That's that's my code. What you're talking about is the stretch frequency. And if you're working with time in that way, you'll always know what your next level looks like and what your stretch looks like. Because there's always gonna be a next level, there's always gonna be a next level for you, and when you identify what the next level looks like, and then you translate that into the human practical actions that you need to take that are gonna get you there, and you understand how to follow the breadcrumbs so that you're you know, you're tracking your evidence, you're following the breadcrumbs. The breadcrumbs are the consequences that the universe drops in from the choices that you're making. Those are the breadcrumbs, and there's only going to be between one and three breadcrumbs a day that you need to follow every day to get where you want to get to in whatever. Like there's it takes between three and five months to ground in what I call a vibrational shift. What that means is create a new normal. Three to five months. So every three to five months, you're gonna get called to the next level, and you're gonna know what that is, you're gonna get an idea or you're gonna get a desire. And remember, it's available or you wouldn't want it, and it's a direct communication from your soul. So, where are the breadcrumbs? And then you follow the breadcrumbs, and when you get the pushback from your ego, you recognize it as such, you know that it's gonna be uncomfortable. Like your stretch zone takes you on the outside edge of your comfort zone for a reason is so that you can engage with your next level and make it your reality. Um, that's often where the trust comes in, you know, where the the faith comes in, where the trust comes in. But understanding how you're designed to create, understanding your creational process, your manifesting process if you if you prefer, understanding how all of this works, understanding what alignment looks like for you and how you can how you can live your life like that, in that, following that. I call my people conscious creators because we create consciously. Everybody's creating, everyone's creating, everyone's manifesting every single minute of every day. If you're not getting what you want, you're doing it wrong. All we need to figure out is where are the misaligned choices and get your course corrected. If you're doing it like if you're if you're doing it as a day-to-day life and nothing's ever really changing, it's because you're creating unconsciously. My people are conscious creators. We create in a conscious way. We make we set intentions and we figure out a path to get there, and then we understand that the universe is gonna have a way quicker, much better way for us to get there. So we follow so that we can follow the breadcrumbs in between. And the growth will happen naturally.
SPEAKER_02:Thank you so much. I see Brenda smiling. I'm gonna toss it.
SPEAKER_01:It's so juicy, Karen. This is so juicy because you're really you love it. I love it because it really gives people a path. If you want to be aligned, if you want to have more money or time, look at your choices. Look. Look at the practical pieces of your everyday life, and where are you not 100% doing you, like you said? Where are you stuck in obligation or scarcity, sacrifice, resentment, or guilt? Look at those pieces. Start making different choices, you know, and this takes time. And I love how you spoke to that. It does take time.
SPEAKER_00:Because it does take time.
SPEAKER_01:We talk about that a lot here.
SPEAKER_00:It doesn't take anywhere near as much time as you might think.
SPEAKER_01:Because well, the best time to start is now, BMW.
SPEAKER_00:Exactly. Exactly. Because every time you make a new choice, you're creating a new choice trajectory. And the universe is reacting to that new choice. And if you make a new choice for freedom versus obligation, just by maybe putting a firm boundary around your own time on a Saturday. Like I am not going to go here, there, and everywhere. I'm on Saturday, or I'm not going to work on Saturday, or I'm not going to go and hang out with my friend who just sucks my energy all day, and then I have to pay for it as well. I'm not going to do that this Saturday. I am going to spend time doing what I want to do this Saturday. And you do what you want to do by immediate immediately by not choosing the obligation of going where you didn't really want to go and doing what you didn't really want to do, you naturally make a choice that vibrates freedom instead of obligation. And so instead of the frequency of obligation that the universe is usually reacting to and bringing you more obligation of, it's able to react to freedom and bring you a new way you can do freedom. And the universe will bring you new ways that you can do these frequencies. So that's why within three to five months, your life can look very, very different very, very quickly just by detoxing.
SPEAKER_01:So exciting. Because I think a lot of people get stuck and scared, and it feels overwhelming and huge. What you're saying is you can just start with one choice this Saturday or whatever, and just make different choices that are more aligned for yourself. And I want to give a little plug for your free download that we are going to be sending to our listeners, which is your wheel of alignment. It's like a checklist. I I don't know if you call it a quiz or a checklist. It's amazing. I took it. And Karen's uh download lets you look at your money, your time, and you. So you can see what are the areas where you're strong and what are the areas that might be misaligned, and then you could start working on that. And I think that's really genius because it's very practical and on the ground, which we love over here on the Desires Medicine podcast. So we will be offering that to our guests. Thank you so much. Is there anything that you want to say about your Wheel of Alignment checklist or how people can get more in alignment?
SPEAKER_00:I mean, just go ahead and go through, it's very self-explanatory. It's like a little scorecard. So you get to answer multiple choice questions, and each answer that you give has a different score, and then you can top up your scores at the end and it will show you exactly what area to work on. Um and you can't go wrong than by detoxing your life of obligation. That would be the first step that I would give anybody if they want a big bang for their buck and they want to get things changed. But but the thing about the wheel of money alignment, it will show you the area to actually focus on first because that's what's actually getting in the way of the money, not the money.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I think that's really great. I want to make a correction to something that I said earlier. I think I said it incorrectly. I said money is usually the least aligned area, and it's money is the least misaligned area.
SPEAKER_00:Exactly, yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, which is really surprising. I think the way I spoke about it earlier, it will be clear, but I wanted to just make that little correction. So thank you for that because this is a really doable path that people can follow, and of course, they could reach out to you. I have a question for you because we are the Desire is Medicine podcast, and we love to talk about desire, and I love everything that you've shared here. And I'm just so curious about Karen the Woman, who is a mom of four. What is the desire that you have? Five. She's a d she's a mom of five. Wow. Mom of two over here is bowing down to you. That's beautiful. So, what is a desire that you have for yourself?
SPEAKER_00:Well, my desire is what I'm working on at the moment, and one of the reasons why I'm here today it is to create the next level of my life, the next version of my life is a life where um I can just essentially just drop everything and jump on a plane or jump on a train and go and spend time with my kids and my grandchildren. None of my my children, my youngest is 20 years old now, and he doesn't live at home anymore. He's in Scotland. I've got an a son in China, my grandchildren are there as well. Um, yeah, they're scattered all over the world, all around the country, and we all go through it, I think. We get to a point in our lives where our parents are no longer a priority. So if we want to remain a priority in our kids' lives, it means that I got to up sticks and I need to go and hang out with them versus expecting them to come and hang out with me. And previously, because I loved my work so much, because I loved my business so much, and because I was blessed that my youngest still lived at home, so he was like literally two metres away from me every single day, I didn't recognize that um anything would ever need to change, and it really does. And the next level of my business means that my business is serving me at a higher level, and my desire is to be able to still grow, obviously, for my business to still grow, for my work to um serve many, many more people and continue to do that, but to do my life and my business on my terms, my own alignment, my own alignment.
SPEAKER_01:Or so relatable. I have a similar desire. Thank you for that, and so shall your desire be. And may it be even better and bigger and wetter than you can even possibly imagine. It does make you giggle, right?
SPEAKER_02:I just want to say thank you so much, Karen, for joining us today and answering the questions so generously. Thank you so much for your generosity on all of the answers. And for our listeners, clearly, we're only touching the surface here of Karen's work. It gets so deep. We'll be able to put her links and everything in the show notes. So if you want to connect with her, you'll be able to do that. And I just had an amazing time chatting today.
SPEAKER_00:Thank you so much. I miss you. Oh, I'd be loving to see you.
SPEAKER_02:Likewise. Thank you so much, everyone, for joining us. And I think that is our wrap for us.
SPEAKER_01:Thank you for joining us on the Desire's Medicine podcast. Desire invites us to be honest, loving, and deeply intimate with ourselves and others.
SPEAKER_02:You can find our handles in the show notes. We'd love to hear from you.
